Position #9 Increases to Position #3 This Way - The Hidden Relevance

The Hidden Relevance, if you look at it from the title, you might imagine that this is a secret technique or a hidden way to do SEO, but in fact it's not what you imagine. I named it Hidden because it will not be visible to visitors when you optimize using this method. Can it be like that? isn't it dangerous?

I will explain later, before I want to explain first about relevance. All search engines must use this factor in the algorithm, because they want what appears in the search results, just like what the searcher typed in the search box. Because it will be very disturbing if what we type in the search engine results are not in accordance with what is displayed by search engines.

Relevance can be interpreted as a relationship that has the same meaning. Usually we definitely apply this in the content. The most visible implementation of relevance is the title of the article and the content of the article that is definitely related, for example if in the title we discuss "how to get rid of zits" then the content should discuss "how to get rid of zits".

Most bloggers are only fixated on Title tags, meta descriptions, and content in applying this relevance. But actually Google always says that the relevance in Google Patents is Document. So that not only content that affects relevance but all documents in a web. This is where most bloggers begin to apply relevance between documents (content), usually by applying SILO Architecture and Internal links in content to connect to other related articles (Related Links).

Silo and internal links will be visually visible in the content, but there is one more way to make relevance between content, but its position is not visible in the article because we use the "rel = next" Element link and "prev = rail". Visually it will not be visible because for this link element the position in the <head> code is the same as the Meta Tag.

You may be familiar with this Link element, there are so many themes or blogspot templates that use these features. But unfortunately most use it not optimally because "rel = next" and "rel = prev" are link elements used for paginated content (serial content), which means that Google will see the content as 1 serial content but each or each URL Content will remain indexed perfectly by Google in search engines, in contrast to "rel = canonical". Maybe this is also the reason why most webmasters only use it on the same homepage as the example above.

This is not a problem, but when the web that you create is a niche general, then using "rel = next" and "rel = prev" in the themes will not be optimal because you can connect between irrelevant content. For this reason, I try to take advantage of this feature in the posting page to get added value from the relevance between the related "article series". I have applied this method to one of my web clients and has a pretty good positive effect:

You might be confused what I mean by article series here. I like this example, I will make an article titled "5 tourist attractions in Bandung", surely in the article I will discuss the five places such as "Tangkuban Perahu", "White Crater", "Strawberry Garden", "Ciater" and "situ patenggang lake". but on the other hand I also made content again about the five places that explained in detail the tourist attractions.

In general, what is usually done by webmasters will be to provide an internal link or Related Link to each of the tourist content in the content of "5 tourist attractions in Bandung" or can make SILO using categories or Page. In addition to these 2 ways we can make it into a content series (paginated content) by giving the Link Element "rel =" next "and" rel = prev "on the 6 content. So here I have 6 serial content:

5 tourist attractions in Bandung that must be visited (View All Page)
Nostalgic with history in Tangkuban Perahu.
Enjoy the exotic white crater
Pamper the eyes of the ciwidey strawberry garden
Relex and relax at the Sari Ater hot spring, Ciater
Enjoy the view on the boat at Situ Patenggang Lake

Now we try to apply the Link Element "rel = next" and "rel = prev" in the 6 content. Previously we first installed several plugins to make it easier:

Wp Head Cleaner (if your themes have a default "rel = next" and "rel = prev")
Average Head & Footer Code
First, if your themes have a default feature that raises "rel = next" and "rel = prev" on every page / content, then you have to eliminate them first, because the link element is the same as "rel = canonical", then there is no allowance 2 The exact same Link Element in 1 page. Next settings like this:

Next we just enter the Element link "rel = next" and "rel = prev" in the custom head & footer code box in every content of the 6 serial content that will be created (after installing the Average head & footer Code plugin):

It should be noted that for the first content, there is only the "rel = next" link because there is no previous content so there is no need to display "rel = prev":

<rel link = "next" href = "http://www.domain.com/url-2/" />
For the last content, there is only the "rel = prev" link because there is no further content so that "rel = next" does not need to appear:

<link rel = "prev" href = "http://www.domain.com/url-5/" />
But for content 2-5, we enter the link "rel = next" and "rel = prev" like this:

<link rel = "prev" href = "http://www.domain.com/url-1/" />
<rel link = "next" href = "http://www.domain.com/url-3/" />
In order for you to better understand, I immediately demonstrated based on my example above for the content of "5 tourist attractions in Bandung", I will discuss one by one how to include this Link Element in each of these content:

Easy to apply right? That way we have told Google that this is serial content (1 piece of content) but the 6 content will still be indexed in Google to anticipate if there are users who search on Google with the keyword "Tangkuban Perahu Tourism" or other. So the Web You still have content to display on Search Engines.

Keep in mind that Google does not guarantee that the use of this Link Element gives the effect of increasing position in search result, but it will give a strong effect of relevance between each serial content. And if we go back to the Algorithm that is concerned with relevance, this technique will help position your articles in the search results.

When should this method be used?
Well, the most frequently asked question for this technique is "does all the content have to be created / included in this link element?". The answer is of course NO. Pagination was made by one of Google engineers to anticipate loading a page that was too long because it was too large in size (maybe because the content was too long and the image was too much). According to Maile Ohye (Google engineer), loading for all page views is no more than 4 seconds for good performance for users and search engines.

For that, if the homepage or view page is all like category and the tag is too long or too much content, then themes will usually use pagination and cutting with the "read more" link on the page to anticipate too heavy a page loading.

Like the example above, I use View All Page, which is in content 1: "5 Tourist Places in Bandung" which displays the 5 content in its depth with a brief description of each tourist spot. You might not use View All Page like the example above, but immediately discuss the name of the tourist course, if it is considered to display the view all page is too heavy loading.
